Moldova is regulating the activity of virtual museums
The government amended and supplemented the Law on Museums, updating the organization, functions and classification of museums. One of the novelties of the project is the introduction of the concept of “virtual museum” - a digital institution that performs its functions through the presentation and promotion of digital collections for educational or knowledge sharing purposes, and which is accessed via the Internet using new technologies. Another innovation is that prices and tariffs for museum services will be set by the institutions themselves and approved by their founders. The procedure of organization and conditions of registration of institutions in Moldova’s Register of Museums have been defined, the classification of museum exhibits by categories has been introduced, and the procedures of accounting of museum exhibits have been established. Also, guides in national museums will be able to be both guides of the institutions themselves and engaged ones, but they must have a special accreditation. The Ministry of Culture will determine the procedure for accreditation of guides within six months. It is worth mentioning, this initiative is part of The Future Museums Programme, which is supported and promoted by USAID, Sweden and the UK through the Future Activities Project (FTA) and the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience project.// 24.07.2024 - InfoMarket.
