Employers Moldova will be able to provide their employees with sports passes.

Employers Moldova will be able to provide their employees with sports passes.

This is provided for by relevant amendments to the Law on food stamps and the Tax Code, adopted by the Parliament in the first reading in order to increase the general interest in amateur sports, to stimulate investment for the development of specialized sports federations and, indirectly, to improve public health. In particular, it is stipulated that employers will be able to provide their employees with vouchers for sport - to be used as a payment tool in commercial sports facilities, which will enter into service agreements with the operator. Sports vouchers will have the same legal force as food stamps; with their help the employer will be able to partially compensate the cost of employees to play sports. At the same time, according to the bill, the nominal amount of food stamps and sports vouchers deductible for tax purposes per working day will be up to 2% of the guaranteed minimum wage in the real sector. With the current minimum guaranteed wage of 4,000 lei, the nominal value of the sports voucher to be deducted for tax purposes will be 80 lei (today the nominal value of one food voucher for one working day is between 35 and 70 lei). Sports vouchers will not be used to purchase products and goods and services other than sports; to pay for the services of trainers, masseurs or any other personnel, they will not be exchanged for cash. The bill also stipulates that professional sports federations - members of the National Olympic and Sports Committee, professional sports clubs or amateur sports associations, which are legal entities and are registered in the relevant registry, will be able to become beneficiaries of the mechanism of interest deduction. At the same time, in order to attract investment in the sports industry, donations made to sponsor sports federations will be subject to deduction (up to 5% of the taxable income), and the financial aid or investments provided to federations will not be subject to income tax. // 29.05.2023 – InfoMarket
