
Case of Chisinau airport concession sent to court, damages caused to the state exceeded 392 million lei.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office has announced about the completion of the criminal investigation and its transfer to the court to consider the merits of the criminal case on another stage of the investigation concerning the concession of the Chisinau International Airport. According to the investigation, 8 public persons holding high positions - former Prime Minister of Moldova (Iurie Leanca), former Minister of Economy (Valeriu Lazar), former director of the Public Property Agency (Tudor Copaci), former Deputy Director of the Public Property Agency (Angela Susanu), former Deputy Head of the Public Property Agency (Maria Sendila), the former Ccting CEO of Chisinau International Airport (Petru Jardan), the former Financial Director of Chisinau International Airport (Alexandru Ciutac), the Head of the Economic Analysis Service of Chisinau International Airport (Ala Tubari) - in 2013, intentionally using their official position, prepared and conceded the state enterprise "Chisinau International Airport" for a criminal group and a criminal organization, which caused material damage to the state of over 392 million lei. The accused pleaded not guilty and the criminal case was sent to the Chisinau Buiucani District Court for examination on the merits. The law provides imprisonment from 3 to 8 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for 10 to 15 years for the committed crime (Article 327 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code). At the same time, in order to recover the damage caused, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (ARBI) of the National Anti-Corruption Center has seized assets of Avia Invest and the authorized capital, as well as assets of defendants, including those located abroad, totaling about 189 million lei.
