A government decree on the reorganization of some educational, research and innovation institutions is scheduled to be approved in the first half of July.

This is provided for in the relevant reorganization project, which was considered by the State Chancellery. The project proposes to reorganize a number of state universities and research institutes by merging and amalgamating, consolidating teacher education, and merging regional universities in the north and south of the country. The project will increase by 2030 the share of teachers with scientific and scientific-pedagogical titles in the higher education system (up to 80) and increase the number of research projects by 10%. After the reorganization, the system of higher education and research is planned to be modernized and improved, about 700 million lei will be allocated for these purposes. At the same time, the authors of the project estimated that the absorption of 4 universities will bring tax benefits to the state budget in the amount of 85 million lei in the next two years. As part of the project, about 6 thousand students of both cycles of study and doctoral students are planned to be transferred to absorbing universities by the end of August this year. The staff of universities will be transferred in accordance with the law, and if it is impossible to transfer, reductions are possible. It is proposed to approve the project at a government meeting on July 13, and to complete the reorganization directly by the end of 2022. Recall, according to the project, the State University of Moldova (9.5 thousand students) will absorb the Academy of Public Administration (only a master's cycle, 825 students) and the State University of Physical Education and Sports (2.2 thousand), as well as the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics named after V . Andrunakievich, Institute of Applied Physics, Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Ecology and Geography, Institute of Geology and Seismology, Institute of Zoology, Institute of Legal, Political and Sociological Research, Institute of Physiology and Sanocreatology, Institute of Romanian Philology named after B.P. Hasdeu, the Institute of History, the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection, as well as the National Botanical Garden. A. Ciubotaru and the Scientific Library. A. Lupan (about 1 thousand scientists). At the same time, the Technical University of Moldova (7.3 thousand students) will include the State Agrarian University (3.5 thousand) and 3 research institutions - the Institute of Electronic Engineering and Nanotechnology named after D. Ghitu, the Institute of Energy and the Institute of Microbiology and biotechnologies (more than 120 employees). Four institutions with a pedagogical profile are planned to be attached to the Pedagogical University I. Creanga (3.5 thousand students): Tiraspol State University (2.5 thousand), State University. Gr. Tamblac in Taraclia (171 students), as well as the Institute of Educational Sciences and the Institute of Continuing Education.
