Four Moldovan universities have launched new license programs in game design, animation and multimedia production.

Four Moldovan universities have launched new license programs in game design, animation and multimedia production.

The new professions will be available at the Technical University of Moldova, the State University of Moldova, I. Creanga State Pedagogical University and the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts. Each university will take on a specialty-specific component. The new specialties will be taught by practitioners in animation, games and multimedia. Students will also take courses with experts from global companies (Crunchyroll, Sony) and international universities (UC Berkeley's Center for Entrepreneurship). Introduction of new specialties in the educational program became possible with the help of the "Future Technologies Activity" project, financed by USAID and the government of Sweden. Press release of the project informs that teaching new specialties assumes active use of technologies and interactive format of courses. The project says the new specialties have emerged in the national program in response to labor market demand. "Universities of Moldova will train specialists of the new era for more than 20 professions of Createch sector, demanded both on national and international market, including sound engineer, producer, animator, VR/AR programmer, UX/UI designer, 3D modeling, etc. Animation, game design and new media are the fastest growing industries in the creative sector globally. Moldova already has a well-developed creative sector with over 2 thousand companies with a turnover of $150 million in 2020," said Doina Nistor, Project Director. According to the project, the global games industry will be $180 billion in 2021, up 14.4% from 2020, the animation market is projected to grow to $642.5 billion by 2030, and the new media market is projected to grow to $837 billion by 2026.
