The Prosecutor General's Office has requested the removal of immunity from MP Radu Mudreac from the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS).
This was announced by the Chairman of Parliament Igor Grosu at the plenary session on Thursday. He explained that the Interim Prosecutor General, Dumitru Robu, in his petition, asks the Parliament to lift the immunity of Radu Mudreac, against whom, and others, on April 20 this year, a criminal case was opened on reasonable suspicion of committing a crime under Article 243, paragraph 3, letter "b" of the Criminal Code (money laundering on a particularly large scale). In this regard, the Interim Prosecutor General requested to remove the immunity of the Moldovan MP, Radu Mudreac, and to authorize his arrest, detention and/or house arrest, the search and indictment of the MP and sending the case to court. The request was forwarded to the Legal Commission for Law, Appointments and Immunity. The Deputy Speaker of the parliament, member of the BCS faction Vlad Batrincea accused the Interim Prosecutor General of playing political games, destabilizing the country in a difficult period, and this political show will not end with anything. He recalled that the Prosecutor's Office had not completed any of the important high-profile cases, including the "theft of the billion," and now it has decided to take on the opposition. The parliamentary opposition took a half-hour break for consultations. // 21.04.2022 - InfoMarket.
