The size of the minimum guaranteed wage in the real and public sectors of Moldova might be unified.

The relevant draft amendments to the Labor Code and the Law on labor remuneration were initiated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. In particular, it is proposed to replace the notion of "minimum guaranteed wage in the real sector" in the legislation with "minimum national wage" and establish that its amount is set and revised by the government, after consultations with social partners, depending on the annual general growth of inflation and the rate of growth of labor productivity at the national level. It is envisaged that tariff wages for the first category of professionals in the real sector will not be lower than the minimum wage in the country. The draft law proposes to regulate separately remuneration of labor of employees of state medical institutions included in the system of compulsory health insurance. As noted in the explanatory note to the draft, currently there is no clarity regarding the minimum wage in the country, as several minimum wages are established (in the real and budget sectors). At the same time there is a big gap between salaries of managers of state-owned enterprises, enterprises with majority state capital, enterprises-monopolists and salaries of workers of these enterprises. In order to reduce this gap it is proposed to adjust the amount of monthly salaries and limit the size of premiums for management personnel. The bill is offered for realization starting with July 1, 2022. It is worth mentioning that currently the amount of minimal guaranteed wage in the real sector is 3,500 lei and in the budget sector - 3,100 lei. // 16.05.2022 - InfoMarket
