The corresponding amendments to the Regulation on the Procedure for Establishing and Payment of Social Benefits were approved by the government at a meeting on Wednesday. In particular, taking into account the increase in consumer prices in the first half of 2021 by 3.86%, from October 1, 2021, the level of the minimum guaranteed monthly income will be increased by applying an indexation coefficient of 1.0386 - to 1,196 lei. As expected, after the indexation, the average amount of social assistance will eventually increase by 42.5 lei and will amount to 1,138.5 lei. About 53 thousand families receive such assistance. In total, the October indexation of the minimum guaranteed monthly income will require about 6.75 million lei. Recall, according to the Regulation on the procedure for establishing and paying social benefits, the minimum guaranteed monthly income is indexed annually on April 1 and October 1. In April this year, the minimum guaranteed monthly income was indexed by 3.89% and after indexation amounted to 1151 lei.
