Corresponding amendments to several joint orders of the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Company were published in Monitorul Oficial and have already entered into force. The Ministry of Health clarifies that not only children under 18 years old, but also adults will receive full compensation for drugs for the treatment of COVID-19, and the amount of compensation for drugs in this category has been increased from 70% to 100%. The list of compensated drugs for the symptomatic treatment of moderate and severe forms of COVID-19 has been replenished with 6 drugs - ampicillin, cephalexin, ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin, and children under 18 will be able to receive an antihistamine - cetirizine. Also, the list of compensated drugs includes injectable forms of amoxicillin, amoxicillin + acidumclavulanicum, ampicillin, cefuroxime and ceftriaxone. Some antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drugs (paracetamol, ibuprofen), as well as mucolytic and expectorant drugs (ambroxol, acetylcysteine, carbocysteine) will also be prescribed free of charge for both children and adults. Patients with a confirmed case of COVID-19, both insured and uninsured in the compulsory medical insurance system, will use the 27 generally accepted international drug names in certain doses and pharmaceutical forms for free if prescribed by a family doctor.
