In Moldova has been completed the modernization of the Vulcănești substation, a key facility in the Vulcănești-Chisinau transmission line project

The Ministry of Energy announced this, noting that the completion of construction work at the Vulcănești substation marks an important milestone in the implementation of the Vulcănești-Chisinau overhead power line project, one of the largest energy infrastructure projects in Moldova. During the final stage, specialists from the contractor, the United Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), the consultant, and the state-owned enterprise Moldelectrica conducted the necessary technical tests. The results confirmed the equipment's readiness for energization and commissioning. All three phases of the station were simultaneously connected, and the final technical work is currently underway before commissioning. Completion of construction work and successful testing pave the way for the commissioning of the Vulcănești substation and its associated infrastructure. Acceptance procedures will be conducted shortly. The Vulcanesti and Chisinau substations are key to the commissioning of the Vulcanesti–Chisinau transmission line, which will ensure Moldova's energy independence. Work continues at the Chisinau substation, installing new equipment and preparing the facility for integration into the national grid. The installation of the external container has been completed, and the installation of protective cabinets is ongoing. Responsible teams are preparing the necessary connections for the station's integration into the national grid. The Vulcanesti–Chisinau overhead transmission line is approximately 157 kilometers long and will connect the Vulcanesti substation (400 kV) with the Chisinau substation (330 kV). The project is being implemented as part of the Power System Development Project, financed by the World Bank Group. The total cost of the project is approximately €61 million, of which approximately €27 million is earmarked for the construction of the transmission line. It was previously reported that the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line construction project, including the modernization of electrical substations in these cities, was scheduled for completion by June 30. // 11.06.2026 — InfoMarket.
