The GCIP Moldova National Academy supports small and medium-sized enterprises in the clean technology sector in developing and consolidating startup ideas
In particular, startup ideas developed by SMEs in the clean technology sector were presented at the GCIP Moldova National Academy, which took place on November 21–22. The program provided semifinalists with practical training and support to transform these concepts into sound solutions ready for final evaluation. The event was organized by the National Center for Sustainable Energy in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and supported by the Global Environment Facility as part of the Clean Technology Innovation Program for SMEs and Startups in Moldova (GCIP Moldova) project. The event was also supported by the “Promoting Inclusive Green Transition in Moldova” project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP Moldova and Tekwill. "The GCIP National Academy in Moldova was created to help accelerator participants refine their ideas and turn them into high-quality projects. Our goal is to help each team gain greater clarity and structure in their ideas, consolidate clear and well-argued results, and prepare them for the next stage of the competition," said Diana Grozav, National Coordinator of the GCIP program in Moldova. "By supporting the GCIP National Academy in Moldova, we are contributing to the development of an ecosystem in which innovation and clean technologies can flourish. The green transition plays a crucial role in breaking the link between economic growth and resource depletion and environmental degradation. We are investing in the potential of SMEs to transform promising ideas into viable solutions that can accelerate the green transition and deliver sustainable benefits for Moldova's economy," said Virginia Bîlici, UNDP Project Manager in Moldova. Participants benefited from thematic sessions led by clean technology experts and individual mentoring aimed at clarifying and improving each startup idea, refining the business model and marketing strategy. In addition, at this stage, special attention is paid to refining the impact hypothesis by developing a climate impact forecast. The teams worked on the results related to the competition as well as on the project presentation. The semi-finalists participated in training sessions on business models, marketing research, product-market fit, financing, intellectual property protection, ESG reporting, understanding clean technology solutions and their technical characteristics, gender aspects in clean technology projects, and market access. The Academy is one of the stages of the GCIP Moldova 2025 competition. The results developed during this period will form the basis for selecting the finalists who will represent Moldova at the GCIP Cleantech Days 2026 event. The winners in the thematic categories will be announced at the Moldova Eco Energetica Gala 2025 charity evening, which will take place on December 5. GCIP (Global Cleantech Innovation Program) supports SMEs and startups in the field of clean technologies, contributing to the development of an innovative ecosystem and the construction of a more efficient and sustainable economy. //November 25, 2025 – InfoMarket.
