Gasoline and diesel fuel prices began to fall in Moldova this week, with retail prices dropping by about 1% in recent days - the National Agency for Energy Regulation
As reported by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), this was due solely to a decrease in international Platts quotations. As the energy regulator emphasizes, this decline is occurring against the backdrop of an international situation characterized by a high degree of uncertainty. Brent crude oil prices fell this week amid concerns about oversupply in the market. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), US crude oil, gasoline, and distillate inventories increased last week, while refining activity and demand declined. At the same time, OPEC+ is increasingly discussing a possible increase in oil production in November to 500,000 barrels per day, which is about three times more than in October. According to Reuters, eight OPEC+ members may support such an increase, while Russia may oppose it, as it is unable to increase production due to Western sanctions. In addition, G7 finance ministers announced this week their intention to increase pressure on Russia, in particular on economic entities that increase purchases of Russian oil or contribute to sanctions evasion. ANRE stated that during this period, external factors such as the volatility of world crude oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty continue to be the main factors affecting fuel prices both on the international market and in Moldova. Under these conditions, for the period from October 4 to October 6, ANRE set the following maximum retail prices for basic standard petroleum products: COR 95 gasoline - 23.07 lei/liter (-6 bani); standard diesel fuel - 19.87 lei/liter (-5 bani). ANRE notes that it continues to monitor the situation and developments on international oil exchanges and assures consumers of the maximum transparency of the current mechanism, which guarantees maximum fairness in the pricing of petroleum products. // 03.10.2025 – InfoMarket.
