The French company Seureca, a subsidiary of Veolia Group, will prepare a study on modernization of the centralized heating system in Chisinau

The Moldovan Ministry of Energy announced this, noting that this is provided for by a memorandum of agreement that Termoelectrica signed with the French consulting company Seureca, a subsidiary of Veolia Group, to carry out a study on improving energy efficiency and reducing gas consumption for the Chisinau centralized heating system. Attending the event, Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu welcomed the progress in Chisinau's centralized heating system, noting that centralized heating systems are considered the most cost-effective. According to him, huge investments have been made in Moldova's centralized heating systems in recent years, followed by other programs to install individual heating points and horizontal heat distribution systems. “All this is done to improve the comfort of residents and reduce energy bills. At the same time, Termoelectrica will feel the benefits of better operational management and will continue to invest in energy efficient technologies,” said the Moldovan Minister of Energy. The study is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and will identify and develop investments in energy saving technologies, strengthen institutional capacity and share international experience in the heating sector. Seureca will also conduct grid connection studies for 5 neighboring neighborhoods, analyze the feasibility and impact of connecting these areas to the centralized heating system (SACET), as well as develop solutions to upgrade the infrastructure of energy monitoring systems in buildings, analyze energy consumption data in different types of buildings and develop solutions to upgrade the operational management and operation of the centyralized heating network to ensure an integrated approach. French Ambassador to Moldova Dominique Waag said that it is very important for France to support Moldova's energy security and autonomy, as well as its adaptation to EU requirements in the energy sector. “France has various support mechanisms and we have now allocated 0.5 million euros through the French treasury to Seureca, a subsidiary of Veolia, to carry out a study on the efficiency of the heat distribution system in Chisinau. As part of this study, Seureca will provide the technical expertise needed to improve the management of the centralized heating networks. This project will eventually improve the welfare and daily life of Moldovan consumers,” the diplomat said. For his part, Termoelectrica's general director Iurie Razlovan said that the signed memorandum represents a commitment of the French authorities to support the modernization of the energy infrastructure in Chisinau and to contribute to the consolidation of Moldova's energy sovereignty. “We highly appreciate the financial assistance provided to carry out a study that will help define a strategy for intelligent management of the centralized heating network and implementation of innovative technologies - optimizations that will provide consumers with better centralized heating services,” he said. It should be noted that Seureca is one of the largest consulting companies in Europe, with many projects in Moldova, while Veolia manages public utilities (water supply, energy, waste management, urban mobility, etc.) in many European cities. //26.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
