In particular, the National Bank of Moldova considers the development of Moldova's sustainability and energy independence to be important for the country's economy, as well as for its financial and monetary stability. This aspect was emphasized by the NBM Governor Anca Dragu during the discussions held on the occasion of the signing of the letter of intent on strengthening the country's energy independence, by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who is on an official visit to Chisinau. The NBM President participated in the discussions with other important state bodies, emphasizing the important role of prudent monetary policy and prudent financial regulation in supporting the macroeconomic stability necessary to attract investments in energy infrastructure. Inter-institutional cooperation and a common vision were also emphasized in order to strengthen Moldova's economic and financial sustainability. "The National Bank of Moldova remains an active partner in the development and implementation of national strategies that promote sustainable economic development, providing a stable and predictable financial basis for the future of Moldova. A sustainable financial and banking sector ensures the country's ability to address economic challenges and support the transition to sustainable energy sources," Anca Dragu emphasized. In addition to energy aspects, the discussions included topics relevant to the financial and banking sector, such as sustainable financing mechanisms, diversification of capital sources, the role of the banking system in facilitating the energy transition, as well as the importance of digitalization of financial services to improve economic efficiency. The signed document provides for a comprehensive support package, through which Moldova will receive financial support aimed at overcoming the situation in the energy sector, strategic investments in the modernization of the national energy infrastructure, as well as the implementation of a set of necessary measures and reforms to strengthen energy and economic security. The NBM has been appointed as the coordinating institution, along with the Ministry of Finance, of a number of working groups. In the framework of relations between Moldova and the EU, the National Bank of Moldova plays an important role in the economic processes of Moldova, exercising its legal powers in the main areas of activity, focusing on public interests, promoting adequate monetary policy, contributing to the integrity and stability of the banking system and consistently applying the best international experience in the interests of society. // 04.02.2025 — InfoMarket
