An online platform dedicated to the development of the biomass energy market in our country, piata-biomasa.md, has been launched in Moldova.
According to the National Center for Sustainable Energy, it was presented within the framework of scientific and technical conferences with international participation taking place in Chisinau, dedicated to issues of energy efficiency, ecology, education, etc. The piata-biomasa.md platform concentrates the necessary information for producers and consumers of biofuel, for suppliers of equipment for briquetting, granulation and packaging, thermal installations for the production of biomass, energy services and other components of the biofuel market. State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Carolina Novac noted that renewable energy is not only photovoltaic panels, and biomass in Moldova can play a more significant role in the energy balance and contribute to achieving the goal of ensuring a share of 27% of renewable energy in the final consumption of the energy sector. These types of online tools that connect market supply and demand are of great benefit, but all market participants still need to understand the benefits of solid biofuels and have the necessary platform to invest in their development and use, she said. The piata-biomasa.md platform allows all market participants - companies, government agencies and individuals - to publish and track advertisements for the sale and purchase of products and services in the biomass energy sector. In this way, information exchange will be facilitated and biomass producers will be better connected with potential consumers for the efficient and sustainable development of this sector in Moldova. Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy, Ion Muntean, noted that the development of the biomass market is an important element of Moldova’s energy transition process. According to him, thanks to this electronic platform, there is an opportunity to facilitate access to these environmental and sustainable resources, thereby contributing to the diversification of energy sources and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Ion Muntean emphasized that this area, in addition to economic and environmental benefits at the national level, also has a significant social effect through the creation of new jobs and the development of a circular economy at the local level. During the conferences, participants discussed Moldova's opportunities to reduce CO2 emissions, tools to support the development of the bioenergy market, the possibility of using agricultural and household waste for energy purposes, biogas production and cultivation of energy plants, as well as barriers to the promotion of biomass. Mihail Lupu, consultant for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Moldova, noted that Moldova has great potential for solid biomass, and the created platform will play an important role in its use. In this regard, within the framework of the same project, 10 solid biofuel producers will be supported to make their production more efficient, and biomass stations will be installed for 80 families with a high degree of energy vulnerability. The online platform piata-biomasa.md was created with the financial support of the Japanese government within the framework of the project “Multifaceted response to emerging challenges in the field of human security”, implemented by UNDP. // 05.07.2024 — InfoMarket.
