Colenco Ltd (UK) will develop a feasibility study for the construction of new highly efficient thermal power plants for the Termoelectrica enterprise.
As noted in the Termoelectrica statement, this is included in a contract signed by the parties for the development of a feasibility study for the construction of new highly efficient heat and power generation plants for Termoelectrica under the second District Heating System Efficiency Improvement Project (PIESACET-2), financed by the World Bank. The document was signed by Termoelectrica in partnership with the United Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE) and Colenco Ltd. As representatives of Termoelectrica noted, the development and diversification of sources of thermal and electrical energy production, including the modernization of power plants with cogeneration, is an important step in the development of the heating system in the municipality of Chisinau, as well as the modernization of the country's energy infrastructure. The feasibility study will look at a variety of advanced technologies, fuel solutions and complementary technologies including waste incineration and renewable energy. Energy, technical, economic and financial models will also be developed to determine the optimal solution and investment strategy proposed for implementation. Termoelectrica reaffirmed its commitment to continue efforts to modernize and optimize the country's energy infrastructure to ensure a sustainable energy future. As InfoMarket previously reported, one of the components of the PIESACET-2 project involves increasing the efficiency of cogeneration through the installation of efficient modular cogeneration units (based on internal combustion engines running on gas) at the Western boiler house (CT-Vest) and Combined heat and power plant (CHPP) Source 3 (CET Sursa -3), as well as installation of electrical transformers and distribution devices (design, supply, installation) and other equipment for connecting new cogeneration plants to the energy network. In particular, the PIESACET-2 project will contribute to the creation of a powerful platform for the production of electrical and thermal energy, as well as increasing energy efficiency and increasing the use of renewable energy sources. For this purpose, the government authorized the installation of 2 new highly efficient cogeneration units with a capacity of about 55 MW (or higher) and thermal - at least 43 Gcal/h (the exact capacity will be established in the technical documentation after the completion of procurement and the conclusion of contracts for the design, supply and installation of new installations). They will help increase the capacity of domestic electricity production and ensure the country's energy security. Herewith, they will contribute to the development of the centralized heat supply system in Chisinau and the efficient and reliable provision of heat energy to consumers. The estimated value of the investment package is approximately 81 million euros.// 08.02.2024 – InfoMarket
