The volume of electricity production from renewable sources is growing in Moldova.
In particular, the volume of electricity from renewable sources purchased by the state-owned company Energocom in 10 months of 2023 exceeded the total volume of "green energy" produced last year by power plants and parks, whose tariffs are regulated by ANRE and with which Energocom has contractual relations. According to Energocom data, through November 1, this purchased energy amounted to more than 72 thousand MWh, compared to about 60 thousand MWh last year. The company estimates that by the end of the year, the total volume will amount to about 80 thousand MWh, or the equivalent of the average over the last 4-5 years of the energy produced by CET Nord in Balti. Energocom notes that most of the installations are photovoltaic, and in July-September 2023, green energy generation volumes doubled, compared to the same period last year. As a central supplier, Energocom is obliged to sign purchase contracts with all renewable energy producers that have an eligible producer status and a fixed tariff set by ANRE. And producers who do not agree to participate and do not receive the state support mechanism have the right to choose who to sell the produced electricity to. Energocom currently signs 145 contracts for the purchase of energy produced from renewable sources, of which about 110 are active. From the beginning of 2023 until now, Energocom has signed 49 new contracts, against 36 in 2022, 5 in 2021 and 9 in 2020. The total installed capacity contracted this year is 39 MW, while last year's new contracts amounted to a total of 23.5 MW. As a consequence, there is a growing interest in green energy production on the part of economic agents who are requesting support mechanisms from the state. // 09.11.2023 - InfoMarket.
