The Energy Community will provide the necessary technical assistance in the process of certification of Vestmoldtransgaz gas transmission system operator at the European level.

This was announced by Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, at the meeting of the delegation headed by him with Alexandru Ursu, Director of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), and other ANRE representatives. According to the energy regulator, during the discussions, the sides touched upon a number of topics related to the process of preparing the energy sector for the cold season, progress in the certification of transmission system operators (TSO) in the electricity and natural gas sector, the procedure for reflecting financial deviations of natural gas suppliers, aspects related to the procedure of changing the natural gas supplier and other topics. Alexandru Ursu mentioned that, as a result of the certification of the electricity transportation system operator Moldelectrica SE as an independent system operator in July this year, ANRE undertook the obligation to monitor the fulfillment of the conditions to fully ensure the independence of the TSO. At the same time, ANRE director noted that Vestmoldtransgaz, temporarily appointed by ANRE as operator of the natural gas transmission system throughout Moldova, after taking over the Moldovatransgaz gas transportation networks, ensures the continuity of proper management and operation of the natural gas transportation infrastructure. The representatives of the Energy Community Secretariat emphasized the need to ensure the operational independence of Vestmoldtransgaz TSO, stating their readiness to provide the necessary technical assistance in the process of certification of the respective TSO at the European level, in line with the commitments for the implementation of Energy Package III. The parties decided to organize a technical meeting before the end of the year to assess the certification process of the natural gas TSO and to address other issues related to the regulatory framework, including the EU Regulation on Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT). // 09.11.2023 - InfoMarket.
