Moldova was Ukraine's second largest user of natural gas storage facilities in July 2023 with an indicator of 143 million cubic meters.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy of Moldova Constantin Borosan, referring to the data of the company "Operator of GTS of Ukraine" noted that, in addition to Moldova, natural gas reserves in Ukraine in July 2023 were made by such EU countries as: Hungary (224 million cubic meters), Slovakia (120 million cubic meters) and Poland (103 million cubic meters). Constantin Borosan explained that in accordance with the EU Regulation on Natural Gas Storage, countries that have gas storage facilities are obliged to fill them at the level of at least 90% by November 1 of each year; and countries that do not have gas storage facilities, such as ours, must ensure a reserve of at least 15% of the average annual consumption in the country that has the infrastructure for storing "blue fuel". As noted by the company "Operator of GTS of Ukraine", against the background of filling European gas storages at the level exceeding 85%, European traders have become more active in using Ukrainian gas infrastructure. Thus, in July 2023, Ukraine received about 600 million cubic meters of natural gas, of which more than 99% - for storage in the "customs warehouse" and short-haul modes. The main volumes were imported for storage in Ukraine by non-resident traders. "Ukrainian gas infrastructure has proven to be reliable for both transportation and storage. We are happy to see foreign customers realizing that storing gas in Ukraine is profitable and safe. We have been working on maintaining this trust from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion and we are confident that along with our colleagues from Ukrtransgas we have shown ourselves to be a reliable partner in improving Europe's energy security," said Dmytro Lippa, General Director of Operator of GTS of Ukraine. // 04.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
