Moldova started buying electricity from Bulgaria for the first time.
In particular, Energocom acquired small amounts of electricity in test mode in order to test a new route for its supply. As noted in the message of the state company, it bought 1 MW of electricity today from the Bulgarian operator Nomad, at a price of 100 euros. This price does not include travel and other procedural costs. The state-owned company emphasizes that, in this way, Energocom wants to test the new route and how logistics operations work. So far, Moldova has imported electricity only from Romania and Ukraine. Earlier it was reported that Moldova and Bulgaria will expand cooperation in the field of electricity and gas supplies. This was discussed during a recent meeting held in Zagreb by the energy ministers of the two countries Victor Parlicov and Rossen Hristov. As noted in the message of the Ministry of Energy, last year the companies Energocom and Bulgartransgaz signed a contract for the transportation of gas through the networks of Bulgaria. Thus, Moldova has the opportunity to buy gas from the Mediterranean and Caspian Seas, including liquefied natural gas, from terminals in Turkey and Greece, and can also purchase from suppliers in these countries, while Bulgaria will ensure transportation through its pipelines. At the same time, Bulgaria is a major exporter of electricity, supplying about 2,000 MW daily. Earlier, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev at a joint press conference in Chisinau with Moldovan President Maia Sandu noted that Moldova and Bulgaria are discussing the possibility of supplying Bulgarian electricity to our country. For her part, Maia Sandu noted that the responsible institutions and companies will consider the pricing mechanism and discuss with Bulgarian producers the possibility of supplies if they agree on volumes and prices.//13.04.2023 — InfoMarket.
