
Moldova's energy imports in January-August 2022 amounted to $1 billion 515.05 million in monetary terms and grew 2.7 times compared to the same period of 2021.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported that, in particular, for 8 months of 2022, as compared to the same period of the previous year, the import of oil and oil products in value terms increased 2.5 times - to $944.3 million, and natural gas and industrial gas products - increased 3.3 times - to $512.16 million. Supplies of coal, coke and briquettes in the same period increased 2.3 times - to $21.43 million. Electricity imports amounted to $37.18 million, 5 times more than in the same period of 2021. On the whole, energy imports in January-August 2022 took the first place in the total structure of Moldovan imports with an indicator of 25.71% against 12.52% a year earlier.
