Moldova will be able to receive liquefied natural gas through an LNG terminal on Revitus Island in Greece.
According to Greek and Romanian media, Maria Rita Gkali, executive director of the Greek gas operator DESFA announced this, noting that the Revitus terminal increases the export capacity of liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes to cover some of the needs of other Southeast European countries, such as Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. It is emphasized that the energy crisis has highlighted the important role of this energy infrastructure in the Gulf of Megara in Greece, which is increasing its total storage capacity as well as the number of LNG ships it can accommodate as a result of modernization projects and the addition of a new floating storage unit (FSU). According to Maria Rita Gkali, additional investments are needed so that Greece can meet the energy needs of other countries. "Since the beginning of the energy crisis and the war in Ukraine, the export capacity of the terminal on Revitus Island has been greatly enhanced, and the LNG ships arriving here cover the energy needs of not only Greece, but also Bulgaria," said the executive director of the Greek gas operator. "This role of the terminal in Revitus will be further strengthened in the near future, as through Bulgaria Greece will be able to export volumes of gas to cover some of the needs of other countries in Southeast Europe, such as Romania, Moldova and even Ukraine," said Maria Rita Gkali. // 07.11.2022 - InfoMarket
