The average price of electricity purchased by Moldova on the Romanian exchange is 180 euros per MWh, which is 3 times higher than the Moldovan Hydro-Power Plant’s price.
Andrei Spinu, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development has told about it while speaking on air of Pro TV channel. He noted that Moldova has two bilateral contracts, under which it buys electric energy from Romania at a preferential price of 450 RON/MWh (90 euros per MWh). Particularly, according to the contract, OMV Petrom will supply Moldova with 50 MWh of power in November, and Nuclearelectrica - with 35 MWh. This is about 10-12% of electricity consumption. RM gets the rest of the power needed to cover the deficit through OPCOM on the Romanian power exchange, where prices vary by hours, from 100 to over 300 euros per MWh. Andrei Spinu admitted that this is three times the price of electricity from the Moldovan Hydro-Power Plant (MHPP). MHPP used to cover 70% of Moldova's electricity needs, supplying electricity at $62.5/MWh. // 08.11.2022 - InfoMarket
