State company Energocom has signed a contract with Romania's OMV Petrom to buy another 50 MW of electricity from Romania.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu announced this, noting at the same time that, even this will not be enough to cover the entire electricity deficit. "We must continue to save to avoid blackouts," Andrei Spinu wrote on his page on the social network. At the same time, he welcomed the fact that the leadership of the capital's mayor's office has joined the national effort to save money, and Chisinau has "less light but more unity." "Only together can we overcome any difficulties," Deputy Prime Minister stressed. Earlier, he noted that Moldova will increase the volume of electricity purchase from Romania to 235 MW to compensate for the reduction of its supply from the Moldovan HPP. Moldova bought 100 MW of electric energy from the neighboring country in the first stage, subsequently 135 MW, and later another 100 MW to be imported from Romania and the neighboring country will supply Moldova with 235 MW of electric energy at a price of 450 RON/MWh (about 90 euros per MWh). Andrei Spinu also explained that Energocom is completing the registration process on the OPCOM platform (market operator in Romania) and will be able to additionally buy electricity from Romania during peak hours. In addition, Moldova is connected to the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and will be able to buy electricity from the European market. // 26.10.2022 - InfoMarket.
