The new gas tariff requested by Moldovagaz for end consumers may be announced by the end of the week.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu announced this while speaking on the Moldova în Direct program on the public TV channel Moldova 1. He noted that in connection with the increase in the purchase price of gas, Moldovagaz should submit to ANRE calculations of new tariffs for end consumers for the energy regulator to approve them. Andrei Spinu believes that the new gas tariffs should be adopted as soon as possible so that the company does not accumulate additional debts. “We discussed the tariff forecasts with the head of Moldovagaz. There are a number of scenarios, and I think that Moldovagaz will contact ANRE no later than the end of the week to request a new gas tariff. The energy regulator will approve the new tariff in the following days. Based on this new tariff, the government will offer support measures for citizens, compensation to mitigate the growth of tariffs,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. At the same time, he did not say what approximately the requested new gas tariff for end consumers might be, noting that specialists need time for all calculations, and he does not want to give any unverified, inaccurate figures so as not to mislead citizens and to prevent speculation on this score. “There are preliminary figures, but there are many scenarios, and they need to be analyzed from the point of view of the budgetary perspective, economic impact, inflation, the purchasing power of the population, the forecast of gas prices in the coming months, etc. There are still a lot of unknowns, it takes time to analyze. But when Moldovagaz presents to ANRE preliminary calculations of new gas tariffs, then all these figures will be announced promptly, as well as the tariffs approved by the energy regulator,” Andrei Spinu said. // 03.11.2021 - InfoMarket.
