To ensure the security of energy supply, Moldova needs to ensure interconnection with Romania, and at this stage, diversify the sources of electricity supply and give priority to its import from Ukraine after establishing a balancing mechanism - Premier Energy.
According to the Institute for European Policy and Reforms, this opinion was expressed by the regional manager of Premier Energy in Moldova, Jose Luis Gomez Pascual, speaking at the EUDebatesCafe, at which key decisions were discussed to strengthen the country's energy independence and security by increasing energy efficiency, promoting renewable sources energy, etc. He noted that, if we talk about energy security, then, first of all, we must ensure interconnection with Romania in accordance with the program in 2024. “This is very important. And I know that the government is working in this direction. The rest of the actions are related to mitigation measures, ”said the head of Premier Energy in Moldova. According to him, the second important point is that in the short term we must ensure the so-called balance in order to receive energy not only from Moldova, from the right and left banks, but also from Ukraine. “If we are talking about the import of energy from Ukraine, we must have a balancing mechanism, which has not yet existed. The next electricity contract will come into force on February 1, 2022, and until then we must have this balancing mechanism, because otherwise we will have to buy most of the electricity from the Moldavian State District Power Plant. Thus, if we are talking about diversification, we must put Ukraine in the first place, and for this we must have fair rules of the game and balance, and NAER must take care of this, ”said Jose Luis Gomez Pascual. // 29.10.2021 — InfoMarket
