The contract for the supply of Russian gas to Moldova and gas transit across the country will be in effect until the end of September 2021 - Gazprom.

The contract for the supply of Russian gas to Moldova and gas transit across the country will be in effect until the end of September 2021 - Gazprom.

This is stated in the last quarterly report of the Russian gas holding for the past year. It notes that in December 2020, the parties signed addenda to the existing contracts for the supply and transportation of gas, prolonging their validity until September 30, 2021. It should be noted that Gazprom and Moldovagaz signed a mid-term contract in December 2006 for the supply of Russian gas to Moldova and gas transit, and upon the expiration of the validity of the document, the parties did not sign a new contract, but regularly extended the old one (since 2012). The National Energy Regulatory Agency reported that on January 15 this year it approved the annex signed at the end of December 2020 by the Moldovagaz companies and Gazprom on the extension of the contract for the purchase of gas until September 30, 2021. As noted by the ANRE, after that the terms of the contracts signed by Moldovagaz should correspond to the “gas year”, which, in accordance with the provisions of the Gas Networks Code, includes the period between the first gas day of October this year and the first gas day of October the following year. ANRE emphasizes that at the same time, by the end of September, Moldovagaz must complete the internal reorganization associated with the separation and certification of the operator of the natural gas transmission system Moldovatransgaz, which will determine the organization of a new contractual scheme with the gas supplier - Gazprom. According to the current contract, the cost of Russian natural gas for Moldova is calculated on a quarterly basis using a European formula that takes into account the price of gas sold by Gazprom to non-CIS countries over the past 9 months. In addition, when calculating the cost of gas for Moldova, it is taken into account the dynamics of the price of gas oil and fuel oil for the 9 months immediately preceding the quarter of gas supply. Vadim Ceban, Chairman of the Management Board of Moldovagaz, noted earlier that Gazprom is selling natural gas to Moldova today at the most favorable prices in the region, and gas purchases in Russia allowed the company to save $40 million last year. These savings were due to the difference between the purchase prices from Gazprom and the average annual quotations at European gas hubs. // 16.02.2021 - InfoMarket.
