The USA will continue to assist Moldova in strengthening and developing the public finance sector
This was stated at a meeting that Finance Minister Victoria Belous held with US Charge d'Affaires in Moldova Daniela DiPierro. The sides discussed joint cooperation projects and the assistance provided by the US partners to the Finance Ministry and its subordinated institutions. Victoria Belous expressed gratitude for the constant support provided by the USA, stressing in particular the contribution in such fields as transfer pricing, development of anti-fraud capacities, automation of IT systems and modernization of the tax services. She emphasized the importance to continue the cooperation, commending the results achieved and their positive impact on the development of the public finance sector in Moldova. The Finance Minister also presented the current institutional priorities, emphasizing the transposition of the EU legislation, the strengthening of the control over the use of the European financing, the improvement of the public procurement system and the consolidation of the capacities for preventing and combating fraud. Victoria Belous expressed gratitude for the support provided by the USAID project “Moldova Financial Sector Transparency Activity” in the development of the Direct Sale of Government Securities to Individuals Program and the eVMS.md platform, which significantly contributed to the development of the government securities market (GS), while providing the Moldovan citizens with the possibility to directly purchase GS issued by the Finance Ministry.
