This was said during a meeting in Chisinau between Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi and his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis. Moldovan Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and Lithuania's constant assistance to Moldova in its efforts to integrate into the European Union. An important topic of the discussions was the development assistance provided by Lithuania to Moldova within the Development Cooperation Strategy. It was noted that over the past two decades, Lithuania has supported 155 projects in Moldova, with the assistance provided amounting to 4.4 million euros in 2022-2023. The meeting also discussed Lithuania's contribution to the fight against disinformation in Moldova, especially through its support to the Center for Strategic Communications and Combating Disinformation. “Lithuania supports Moldova's efforts to join the European Union and will continue to do so at every stage. The fact that Moldova has obtained the status of an EU candidate country is, without a doubt, a huge and well-deserved achievement. This achievement marks a new page not only for Moldova, but also for the whole Europe. True friends are always there to support us in a difficult moment. We will continue backing Moldova,” Gabrielius Landsbergis said.
