A “yellow” (moderate) terrorist threat code has been declared in Moldova.
The corresponding decree was signed on Thursday by the head of the Information and Security Service (SIS) in connection with Russia's military invasion in Ukraine. As clarified by the SIS, all authorities in the field of preventing and combating terrorism, within their powers, take additional measures to contain, detect and prevent situations that may cause a terrorist threat. In particular, the competent authorities of Moldova will strengthen the security and protection of critical infrastructure facilities in order to identify and prevent possible terrorist attacks. Control measures and ensuring public order will be strengthened at state border crossing points, airports, railway and bus stations, and crowded places. State bodies will intensify measures to check public places and places of mass events, cultural and sports events - in order to identify possible risk situations (explosive devices, suspicious persons). In addition, the level of readiness of forces and means that can be involved in responding to a terrorist crisis and eliminating consequences will be checked. The SIS urges the population to remain calm, obtain information from official sources, not disseminate unverified information, and follow instructions from the Commission for Emergency Situations. // 24.02.2022 - InfoMarket.
