Moldova will become a world center of sparkling wines and for 3 days Chisinau will host one of the most prestigious international wine competitions for the first time - Concours Mondial de Bruxelles

As reported by the National Bureau of Vine and Wine (NBVW), the event dedicated exclusively to sparkling wines will be held in the capital of Moldova from September 5 to 7 and will turn our country into the most important platform of the world wine community and a notable point on the map of wine tourism. This event is organized by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles with the support of the NBVW - the institution responsible for the international promotion of the country's wine brand "Wine of Moldova". Director of the NBVW Stefan Iamandi noted that Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is an international wine competition whose goal is to provide consumers around the world with reliable information about quality wines. At the same time, the competition supports winemakers who want to export their products and strengthen their presence in foreign markets. "For Moldovan winemakers, this event is a strategic platform for increasing recognition and promotion in new export markets. Holding the competition in Chisinau is a recognition of the maturity and quality of Moldovan wine, as well as confirmation of its deserved place in the international world of wine. At the beginning of autumn, we will experience a moment of national pride and a unique opportunity to position Moldova as an important wine hub in Eastern Europe," Stefan Iamandi emphasized. According to him, about 45 world-class tasters - sommeliers, journalists, specialized bloggers and world-renowned experts - will come to the event dedicated to the evaluation of sparkling wines, who will conduct a "blind" tasting of more than 1,000 sparkling wines from famous wine regions. The jury will also include specialists from Moldova with extensive experience in wine tasting. Over the course of 3 days, the jury will evaluate the participating wines by tasting, and at the end, the results and medals received will confirm the superiority and competitiveness of the awarded producers. During this period, guests will be able to visit a number of wineries across the country - Castel Mimi, Purcari, Cricova, Mileștii Mici, Mircești, EtCetera, Chateau Vartely and Rădăcini, where they will be able to enjoy wine pairing sessions and tours of tourist complexes. In the eyes of the international wine community, holding such a competition means recognizing the maturity of the local wine sector and is an important step in strengthening Moldova's position as a competitive producer on the world market. Holding Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Chisinau will have a long-term economic and tourist impact, ensuring the visibility of wine producers on international markets and stimulating wine tourism. Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has over 30 years of history and one of its peculiarities is that it is not only held in Belgium, so in recent years it has been hosted by over 20 countries with wine-making potential. The competition involves tasting the wines submitted, and only about 30% of them win awards, which supports the value of the awards. The rigorous evaluation process ensures that only quality prevails in the evaluation. Medals received at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles are internationally recognized and can influence consumer decisions worldwide. // 14.08.2025 – InfoMarket.
