An economy ready for European integration is built through investments in competitiveness, support for local entrepreneurs, and alignment with EU standards – the Ministry of Economic Development

Mihaela Gorban, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization stated this while speaking at the roundtable “EUReady – The Path to the EU: Dialogue for a Prepared Economy,” an event dedicated to preparing the business environment for European integration and strengthening dialogue between representatives of government agencies, the business community, and civil society. During the second session, titled “Moldova on the Path to the EU: Challenges, Priorities, and Concrete Steps for a Prepared Economy,” the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization highlighted the multifaceted efforts aimed at building a European-style economy in the country—one that is more competitive, more predictable, and more attractive to investment. Discussions also covered support instruments for SMEs, measures to deregulate and simplify access to financing, the development of high-quality infrastructure, ensuring economic convergence with European standards, as well as the benefits of Moldova’s gradual integration into the single European market. The event served as an effective platform for dialogue, interaction, and the exchange of best practices with Romanian experts regarding Romania’s experience in the process of joining the European Union, with the aim of identifying key lessons for preparing Moldova’s business environment in the context of European integration, enhancing competitiveness, and leveraging the economic opportunities provided by access to the single European market. The event was organized as part of a program implemented by GLIA Impact Hub and the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Moldova (AFAM), with support from the Innovate Moldova program, funded by Sweden and the United Kingdom. // 21.05.2026 — InfoMarket
