The implementation period of the EIB-financed project "Roads of Moldova III" will be extended until December 29, 2028.
This will be provided for by the relevant agreement on amendments No. 1 to the financing contract between Moldova and the European Investment Bank to continue the implementation of the said project. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the start of negotiations on signing the relevant amendment. As noted by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, the extension of the implementation period of the "Roads of Moldova III" project will allow completing the construction of the bypass road in Cimislia and restoring the R34 Cantemir-Cahul road section. Earlier it was reported that on June 25, 2013, our country signed a financing contract with the European Investment Bank, which provided for a loan of 150 million euros for the "Roads of Moldova III" project. On December 15, 2022, the parties signed an agreement on the allocation of an additional loan of 100 million euros for road repairs within the framework of the "Roads of Moldova III" project for its completion. The new EIB loan of €100 million was required due to rising prices for construction materials due to the regional crisis. The project will improve the condition and quality of the national road network, including increasing mobility and efficiency of transport throughout the country. In addition, new jobs will be created and economic development will be supported through investments in road rehabilitation and construction. The sections of Moldovan roads being repaired are of great importance for ensuring transport and commercial flows from Moldova and Ukraine to Romania, the Danube via the port of Giurgiulesti and other EU countries. // 02.07.2025 – InfoMarket.
