Belgium will allocate 12 million euros for the implementation of the project "Decentralized Drinking Water Supply in Moldova"
This is provided for in the relevant loan agreement for the implementation of this project, which was signed on June 23 by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolea, and the Ambassador of Belgium to our country, Evert Maréchal. As reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the said project is aimed at improving access to drinking water in rural areas by installing 85 water kiosks that will serve at least 55 thousand citizens in selected localities, especially in areas where the existing infrastructure does not provide adequate access to clean water. Vladimir Bolea noted that the signing of this agreement reflects the joint commitment of Moldova and Belgium to projects that have a direct impact on the lives of citizens. "Thanks to this project, communities will have access to clean water filtered through specially designed kiosks, which will become a modern and safe alternative in localities that today depend on wells. We thank Belgium for the strategic partnership and investments that have a direct impact on people's lives," he emphasized. Earlier, it was reported that Belgium would provide Moldova with a 12 million euro loan for a project to install BOSAQ water kiosk systems in 85 localities in Moldova to provide access to safe drinking water for over 55,000 residents. BOSAQ kiosks are drinking water purification units with a capacity of 500 l/h. They comply with EU standards and provide protection against pollution, guaranteeing the safety of drinking water. The loan provided by Belgium to Moldova will be repaid over 30 years, including a 10-year grace period during which no interest is paid. The interest rate will be 1.5% per annum. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 20% of the rural population of Moldova does not have access to clean drinking water. // 23.06.2025 — InfoMarket.
