
Moldova plans to receive into the 2022 budget grants of 3 billion 753.4 million lei, which is 1.3 billion lei (53%) more than the previously approved figure.
This is stated in the materials of the Ministry of Finance to the draft amendments to the Law on the State Budget for 2022, which will soon be considered and approved by the government. In particular, the total amount of grants to the budget is to be increased by 1 billion 299.7 million lei (+53%) from 2 billion 453.7 million to 3 billion 753.4 million lei. At the same time, the grants for budgetary support will increase by 1 billion 539.9 million lei and the grants for projects funded from foreign sources will decrease by 240.2 million lei. The amounts of grants have been reevaluated also taking into account exchange rate fluctuations. As noted, in 2022, grants for budget support are planned at 3 billion 005 million 311.4 thousand lei (the equivalent of 140 million euros and $9.24 million) instead of the previously expected 1 billion 465 million lei (the equivalent of 68 million euros). At the same time, 140 million euros in grants for budgetary aid (the equivalent of 2 billion 827 million 683.5 thousand lei) is to be received from the European Commission. In particular, the European Commission approved the first grant installment of 15 million euros (the equivalent of 296.74 million lei) from the new macro-financial assistance program and the budgetary support from the European Commission (DG NEAR) in the amount of 75 million euros (the equivalent of 1 billion 466 million 947.5 thousand lei) to diminish the impact of the multiple crises faced by Moldova. At the same time, the Romanian government will provide 10 million euros (202 million lei) to support the Moldovan state budget and the German government will provide 40 million euros (862 million lei). At the same time, a grant of $9.24 million (177.63 million lei equivalent) will be provided to the state budget by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development from the World Bank Group under the Development Policy Operations Project (DPO). Also, this year, grants for financing projects from foreign sources in the amount of 748.1 million lei (equivalent of $39.8 million) will enter the budget instead of 988.3 million lei (equivalent of $52.5 million) forecasted earlier.
