A first for Moldova: an innovative design for the maib junior Mastercard card The maib junior card just got a glow-up—and it’s designed to spark kids’ creativity

When was the last time a bank card made your child smile? Now it will—every single day.
For the first time in Moldova, maib and Mastercard are introducing a brand-new maib junior card design. Starting March 23, paying becomes more than just a routine—it’s an interactive, fun experience for kids and teens. And their creativity doesn’t go unnoticed—it gets rewarded.

A design that comes to life
With built-in LED technology, every payment lights up the card. Musical notes glow with each tap at the POS terminal, turning everyday transactions into something memorable.

Beyond the cool visuals, the card is a safe and practical tool for kids aged 7+, offering:
• full parental control through the maibank app;
• easy access to money and secure payments;
• instant transaction notifications;
• customizable spending limits.

To help kids take their first steps with money, the first 1,000 who open a maib junior card with their parents between March 23 and May 22 will receive a complimentary “Financial ABC” guide (while supplies last). Created by maib and Mastercard, it makes money conversations easier and more engaging for both kids and parents.

Contest: “Design the maibank app”
Kids already have their own version of the app—now they get to help design it.
We’re inviting children and teens to unleash their creativity and create a visual theme for the maibank app using any tools they like—from AI to design apps.

How it works:
Create your design, upload it to the voting platform, and collect as many votes as possible.

The top 3 entries will win:
At the end, the top 3 most-voted entries will win:
• a Canon camera;
• an Apple tablet;
• an action camera.

You stay in control—they gain confidence
While kids explore payments and creativity, you stay fully in control via the maibank app—track spending in real time, set limits, and make sure their first financial steps are safe.
