Orange Moldova supports Ungheni with mobile payment solutions as part of the country’s first fully digital public transport system

Orange Moldova supports Ungheni with mobile payment solutions as part of the country’s first fully digital public transport system

More cities across the Republic of Moldova are introducing digital solutions in public transport. On March 1st, a new municipal public transport system with fully digital payment was launched in Ungheni. The system enables electronic ticket purchase and validation directly in the buses serving the city and marks an important step toward modern urban mobility.

Orange Moldova contributes to this initiative through mobile payment solutions that allow passengers to purchase tickets directly from their phones. Tickets can be bought via the My Orange app or by sending an SMS with the text 7007 to the short number 7007.

Tickets are paid for directly from the phone, without cash, and validated through the electronic system installed in the buses. The solution simplifies the payment process for passengers and supports the operation of a modern e-ticketing system in public transport.

Vadim MARCENCO, Sales Director, Orange Moldova:
“Digital payments in public transport are seeing steady growth. In Chișinău, Bălți and Edineț, more than 500,000 electronic tickets have already been sold, with over 200,000 purchased through the My Orange app since the beginning of last year. These figures confirm that users prefer fast and accessible solutions directly from their phones. Through the My Orange app and SMS payments, we provide Ungheni residents with a simple way to purchase transport tickets and support initiatives that bring digital solutions into everyday services used by communities.”

The system was implemented in collaboration with local authorities and technology partners involved in developing the e-ticketing infrastructure, contributing to the modernization of public transport and expanding access to digital mobility solutions.
