Maib: day by day standing by the Ukrainian refugees

Maib: day by day standing by the Ukrainian refugees

Maib, continues to act with care and solidarity with the Ukrainian citizens who have taken refuge in our country. The support provided by the bank is manifested both by the preferential conditions created for a number of banking products and services, as well as by substantial financial donations transferred to the special accounts opened by the authorities.
Advantageous exchange rate
One of the first measures the bank implemented was providing an advantageous exchange rate for the Ukrainian hryvnia.
Foreign exchange transactions with Ukrainian currency are available throughout the network of maib branches and agencies on a regular basis.
Cancellation of commission fees at ATMs
On February 25, the second day of armed conflict in Ukraine, when the number of refugees in our country was growing rapidly, we acted quickly and decided to cancel the commission fee in maib network of ATMs for the operations of money withdrawals from bank cards issued by Ukrainian banks.
Thus, Ukrainian citizens can withdraw money at maib ATMs in Moldovan lei, US dollars and euros, without paying the fees previously applied (however, some fees may be applied by the issuing banks).
We mention that for the withdrawal of the money in Moldovan lei from the cards of a foreign bank, a standard commission of 1.5% + 20 lei and 2.5% + 1 USD / 1 EUR for withdrawals in foreign currency is applied.
Free Instant Cards
Because we understand the needs of Ukrainian citizens, from February 25 they can request the free issuance of cards in lei, dollars and euros.
Mastercard Gold instant cards are opened in lei and can be obtained immediately at any maib branch. Nominal cards in foreign currency are issued within 24 hours and can be delivered to any address absolutely free of charge (except for the localities on the left bank of the Dniester and in Bender municipality).
To open a bank card, non-residents must present a valid foreign passport or available national identity card (ID card), with Latin transliteration.
So far, maib has opened 1,243 cards to refugees from Ukraine.
Deposit accounts opened at maib
Maib also offers the possibility to open deposit accounts. According to the legislation, in case of amounts over 10 000 euros, it is necessary to present the supporting documents regarding the origin of the money.
Financial donations
In order to support the Ukrainian refugees in the Republic of Moldova, by the end of the year, maib will donate approximately 10 million lei to the refugee support fund opened by the Ministry of Finance. At the end of each month, the sum of donations will be publicly announced on the bank's website.
Maib will donate a fixed amount for each transaction made with a debit or credit card issued by the bank and made at any POS and online payments. Maib cardholders who want to support this initiative are encouraged to use the cards as often as possible to increase the amount donated to the refugee support fund.
Also, the Board of Directors and the President of maib decided to donate the entire February salary in the special accounts for humanitarian donations announced by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, at the same time a substantial donation being granted by all members of the Management Board.
The first transfer of 1,522,809 lei was performed in March to the account for humanitarian donations for supporting the Ukrainian people.
Donations through maibank
Beginning March 1, maib customers can also make donations in the maibank mobile app. To do this, go to: Payments / Invoice Payments / Charity / Help Ukraine.
