The meeting discussed the difficulties faced by residents, as well as ways to solve them for the further development of industry in the region and in the country. It was noted that the main problem for SEBN and other residents of the Balti FEZ is the lack of qualified labor force. The administrator of the Balti FEZ, Marin Ciobanu, noted that since the creation of the zone in March 2010, 78 foreign investors have become its residents. The total volume of attracted investments exceeded $222 million. In addition, annually residents of the Balti FEZ directly or indirectly allocate more than $110 million for the development of the Moldovan economy. According to him, today 11,400 jobs with an average salary of about 8,600 lei have been created in 10 sub-zones of the Balti FEZ, located throughout the country, and the annual salary fund of all residents of the Balti FEZ is $58.5 million. The amount of taxes paid is about $25 million, and the annual purchases of products from local enterprises are estimated at $25.5 million. Marin Ciobanu stressed that the main goal of the Balti FEZ is the socio-economic development of the country by attracting foreign investments and creating new jobs, as well as the introduction and widespread use of new technologies. According to him, SEBN, being one of the largest residents of the Balti FEZ, is a vivid example in the implementation of the set goals. In turn, SEBN Director Igor Corman, using the example of the enterprise headed by him, presented its influence on the economic development of the region, and also made proposals to improve the legislation regarding the customs regime applied to residents of the FEZ. As a reminder, SEBN is engaged in the production of car wiring in Orhei municipality. The company started its activities in Moldova at the end of 2015, and in 2017 received the status of a resident of the Balti FEZ.
