
In 2020, the free economic zones (FEZ) of Moldova produced products and provided services worth 10.8 billion lei, of which 94% accounted for industrial products.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, income from sales of industrial products in the FEZ in 2020 decreased by 6.8% compared to the previous year and amounted to 10.22 billion lei. Most of the products - 91.8% (9.3 billion lei) - were exported. At the same time, about 2.1% of the products produced by the FEZ were delivered to the rest of the country, and 6.2% - to other residents of the FEZ. In general, 88.7% of products manufactured in the FEZ were exported (products worth 9.5 billion lei, which is 8.1% less than a year earlier). It is noted that FEZ provided 22.3% of Moldovan exports in 2020, which is 1.08 percentage points more than in 2019. At the same time, the total income of FEZ residents from export sales decreased by 18.4% compared to 2019 and amounted to 168.2 million lei. Stocks of industrial products in late 2020 increased by 0.2%, compared to 2019, and amounted to 559.9 million lei. In 2019, residents of the SEZ of Moldova produced insulated and industrial electrical cables, car wiring, ceramic tiles, carpets, woolen and synthetic thread, furniture, fiberglass, grape wine and cognacs, sausage, etc. It is reported that Expo-Business-Chisinau residents were engaged in sorting, packaging, labeling and other operations with goods that were in transit through Moldova, revenue from the sale of these services amounted to 110.7 million lei, which is 35.4% less than in the previous year (in 2019, these services were also provided by the Balti FEZ).
