According to the Customs Service (CS), the head of the agency, Alexandru Iacub, and the head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), Slawomir Pichor, discussed topical issues related to the efficient management of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, facilitation of international trade and strengthening of border security measures. Alexandru Iacub outlined the CU's strategic priorities for 2025: digitalization of customs processes, modernization of the cross-border infrastructure, strengthening the capacity to prevent and combat cross-border crime, as well as preparations for Moldova's accession to the Common Transit Convention, which is an important step in the process of integration into the European economic and customs space. At the same time, the CS head said that the branch will launch a large-scale process of institutional reform and reorganization in line with the European requirements, which will contribute to improving the administrative efficiency and operational potential of the customs authority in ensuring the state's economic security. During the meeting, the sides discussed how EUBAM could support future joint initiatives, including the provision of modern control equipment, strengthening cyber security, expanding international cooperation and diversifying areas of cooperation in areas of common interest.
