Moldova will harmonize its legislation in the field of chemicals management with the EU legislation
In particular, this is envisaged by the draft law passed by the Parliament in the second reading, which clarifies the provisions related to the Safety Data Sheet on the hazards and risks of chemical substances and mixtures imported into Moldova. The draft law aims at updating the regulatory framework and amending several laws in this field. In the current legislation, it is proposed to replace the phrase “safety instruction” by “safety passport”. The passport is an important document in the supply chain containing information on the components, physicochemical properties, hazards and risks of fuming chemicals and mixtures; environmental and toxicological data, information on individual exposure and protection, first aid and response measures in case of unintentional spread of substances in the environment, and other information necessary to protect health and the environment. The safety data sheet must also include the identity of the suppliers of chemicals and mixtures, whether manufacturers, importers, representatives, users or distributors. The passport will include the full address and contact number, as well as the e-mail address of the person responsible for completing the safety data sheet. The legislative initiative was developed by the Ministry of Environment and aims to harmonize national legislation with EU legislation on environmental protection of chemicals. // 25.07.2024 - InfoMarket.
