The Moldovan government expects that by the end of 2023 the current inflation in the country will decrease to a corridor of 6-7%.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated this while presenting amendments to the state budget for this year in Parliament and answering MPs' questions. According to him, this would be normal. "We should keep in mind that the Moldovan economy both last year and three quarters of this year is in recession. Starting from the fourth quarter of 2023, we will have a recovery. The recovery will be even greater starting from the first and second quarters of 2024. The government is striving to achieve this goal through a series of programs," Prime Minister said. He emphasized that, on the one hand, the economy should be stimulated, and on the other hand, the socially vulnerable categories of the population and citizens in need of assistance should be supported, which the government is doing by increasing salaries, including within the current adjustment of the state budget. Dorin Recean drew attention to the fact that the government's task is to support the citizens affected by the crisis, while in parallel, the Cabinet is implementing programs to promote energy efficiency and stimulate the growth of investments by authorities and enterprises. "As a consequence, the investment growth is there anyway, but it is slower than we would like, and the reason is the international and regional context," Prime Minister said. He stressed that Moldova has a series of programs with international development partners and there are investments in roads, bridges. "These are also capital investments, and their growth is significant, despite the crisis. Besides, important investments are made through the "European Village" program, which aims at increasing investments at the local level," Dorin Recean said. //05.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
