
MPs of the Moldovan Parliament voted for 74 normative acts in July 2023.
According to the press service of the supreme legislative body, a total of 278 legislative initiatives were registered in July. Out of the total number of normative acts adopted in July, 60 are laws and 14 are resolutions. During July, MPs ratified a number of agreements providing financial support in various fields, including agriculture, education or energy security. At the same time, a number of agreements concluded on the platform of the Commonwealth of Independent States were denounced. Legislative initiatives aimed at reforming the justice sector were also adopted, including a draft law requiring external evaluation of prosecutors and judges. The government approved a national media development program for 2023-2026, as well as amendments to the Moldovan Audiovisual Media Services Code. MPs also voted for the creation of the Center for Strategic Communications and Countering Disinformation, as well as the National Agency for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. Legislative initiatives were also voted in July, which stipulate that all consumers will be able to choose their gas supplier. A legislative initiative containing measures to improve the energy efficiency of buildings was also passed. The budgetary and fiscal policy for 2024 was adopted, and a draft law was approved, which stipulates that the reimbursement of taxes and fees to economic agents from ATU Gagauzia will be made from the autonomy's budget. A draft law aimed at consolidating the partnership relations between youth organizations and state institutions was approved. The MPs also voted in favor of extending the state of emergency in the country for another 60 days. Over the last month, MPs held five plenary sittings. The spring session of the Moldovan Parliament ended on July 31. According to the regulations, the parliament meets for two regular sessions a year. The fall session starts in September and cannot last longer than the end of December. The order to convene the legislature for the next fall session will be signed by the Chairman of the Parliament.
