Moldova’s Supreme Security Council asks the Prosecutor General's Office to investigate the way the insurance companies and their bank accounts were used in the processes of lending and privatization of state assets associated with interest groups and involved in other investigated frauds.
This was announced by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, following the meeting of the Supreme Security Council. Maia Sandu noted that the Prosecutor General's Office is also expected to investigate the decisions of the National Financial Market Commission, which led to ineffective asset management of some insurance companies, as well as investigations of suspicious Moldasig transactions throughout the entire period including 2008-2014. The President wrote on her page in the social network that within the framework of the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, topical issues that affect citizens, as well as the economic security of the country, were discussed. “We have been discussing the problems of the insurance sector for many hours. The schemes implemented by certain interest groups controlled by Plahotniuc, Shor and Platon, which have been in effect for many years, endanger citizens' money, pose serious risks to the insurance sector, as well as to the state budget. Some of these schemes became possible due to poor decisions of regulatory structures, others - due to dubious verdicts of judges. Due to the lack of immediate action by law enforcement agencies in the event of acts of corruption, as well as the parliament's inaction against members of the Management Board of the National Financial Market Commission, raider attacks continue,” emphasized Maia Sandu and voiced a number of the above-mentioned recommendations of the Supreme Security Council to state institutions, in particular, General Prosecutor's Office. The head of state also said that during the meeting, the export of wheat was also discussed, and the members of the Supreme Security Council asked to extend the restriction on the export of grain from the state reserve in order to prevent an increase in prices for bakery products for low-income categories of citizens. // 14.04.2021 - InfoMarket
