The Prosecutor General of Moldova Alexandru Stoianoglo asked the parliament to deprive Petru Jardan and Denis Ulanov (SOR Party) of parliamentary immunity.
As the Speaker of the Parliament Zinaida Greceanii noted, it is planned that the Parliament's Legal Commission on Appointments and Immunity will consider tomorrow all the materials submitted by the Prosecutor General in order to present its decision for consideration to the Permanent Bureau on Monday or Tuesday. The issue of lifting the parliamentary immunity can be considered at a plenary session early next week. Alexandru Stoianoglo asked for the removal of Petru Jardan’s and Denis Ulanov’s parliamentary immunity for their possible detention, arrest, search, and sending the criminal case to court. Petru Jardan was not at the parliamentary meeting on Friday, and Denis Ulanov announced that he was ready to present evidence of his innocence. As the Prosecutor General's Office reported a little later, Denis Ulanov is suspected of involvement in banking fraud and money laundering on an especially large scale, and Petru Jardan is suspected of abuse of office on an especially large scale in the interests of an organized criminal group and to the detriment of the interests of the State Enterprise Chisinau International Airport that was in concession. Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo came to parliament to exercise his right to demand the abolition of the parliamentary immunity of these two MPs. While motivating the request, the Prosecutor General gave arguments confirming the illegality of the actions of the two MPs. The Prosecutor General's Office notes that any person is considered innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision. // 19.03.2021 - InfoMarket.
