The new road transport corridor between the capitals of Moldova and Ukraine will reduce the route between Chisinau and Kiev to 5-6 hours
The presidents of Moldova and Ukraine, Maia Sandu and Volodymyr Zelensky, agreed on its creation, signing a Memorandum on the development of the transport and transit potential of Moldova and Ukraine following the January 12 talks in Kiev. The purpose of signing this document is to strengthen cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine in the field of infrastructure development, create new jobs and effectively use the transit potential of both countries. To achieve the set goals, it is envisaged to create a road transport corridor that will connect Kiev and Chisinau. In the future, this corridor will become the shortest route from the Central region of Ukraine to the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe. As Maia Sandu noted, during the meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, a project on the development of road infrastructure on the Chisinau-Soroca-Yampol-Kiev highway was discussed in order to ensure the fastest possible transport links between the capitals of Moldova and Ukraine and to promote the activation of road transit through our country. Within the framework of the signed memorandum, the parties agreed to take a number of specific steps. In particular, it refers to the international legal registration of the construction of the Yampol - Cosauti bridge, the coordination of efforts to prepare an investment project and the development of a feasibility study for the development of border infrastructure and access roads on the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border, as well as the search and involvement in the project of international financial organizations.// 12.01.2021 — InfoMarket.
