Lower prices for roaming services in EU countries for Moldovan citizens took effect from December 21.
The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) announced this, noting that this is due to the fact that 2 out of 3 mobile operators in Moldova have launched attractive offers for voice and mobile Internet roaming services in Europe. All cell phone users traveling in 30 countries of the European Economic Area can benefit from significantly reduced standard tariffs for roaming in the EU or activate various advantageous options, while those who have a subscription can talk and use the Internet from their account. This was possible thanks to ANRCETI's application of the Delegated Regulation No. 654/2021, supplementing Directive (EU) 2018/1972 of the European Parliament and of the Council, establishing a maximum flat rate at EU level for the termination of voice calls in mobile and fixed networks, as well as the signing on May 31, 2023, by the EU and Moldovan mobile operators of the Joint Declaration on the reduction of roaming charges as of January 1, 2024. At the same time, on September 22, the signatories of the declaration agreed on the maximum marginal retail prices for data and calls in roaming, which was another important step towards the reduction of roaming charges between Moldova and EU/EEA countries, with the whole negotiation process coordinated and supported by the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications - BEREC and ANRCETI. // 22.12.2023 - InfoMarket.
