Moldova's achievements in exporting agri-food products to the EU and expanding access to new markets were discussed in Brussels
This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, noting that our country's achievements in exporting agri-food products to the EU were analyzed during the 10th meeting of the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Subcommittee between the EU and Moldova held in Brussels. At the same time, the significant contribution of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the National Agency for Food Safety was emphasized. As noted, this cooperation provided Moldovan economic agents with the opportunity to gain access to new markets and expand export opportunities in the EU market, while contributing to the consolidation of food safety rules and standards. Among the most important events of this year was the permission to export fresh poultry meat. Thus, the first batches of fresh and processed poultry meat have already been sent for export, which opens up new economic opportunities for domestic poultry farming. In addition, access to the European TRACES NT platform allowed Moldovan producers to expand their exports of eggs, ice cream and honey of category A - products for which demand on the EU market has increased significantly compared to 2023. Another success for Moldova was gaining access to the export of Prunus L planting material, which will allow diversifying production and creating new opportunities for Moldovan producers. The meeting also discussed the progress achieved in the implementation of the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Chapter of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), as well as our country's requests for greater access to new European markets. Discussions included bilateral assessments related to food safety, sanitary-veterinary and phytosanitary policies, emphasizing the importance of further compliance with EU standards to further facilitate the access of Moldovan products to European markets. An important aspect of the discussions was the technical assistance of the European Union, which will contribute to improving standards in the agri-food sector and developing Moldova’s export potential. // 14.11.2024 – InfoMarket.
