
Moldova and Turkey agreed on 16 priority areas of bilateral cooperation and agreed to expand quotas for the supply of agricultural products.
These are the results of the 10th meeting of the Moldovan-Turkish intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, which took place this week in Ankara. According to the Ministry of Economy, the co-chairs of the commission - Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu and Minister of Health of Turkey Fahrettin Koca - signed a protocol on cooperation in 16 strategic areas that are priority on the Moldovan-Turkish agenda following the meeting. Among them: energy, transport and logistics, regional development, urban studies, rural development, agriculture, education and health, culture and tourism, cinema, restoration of historical monuments, development of tourism products, etc. The parties agreed to expand quotas for the supply of agricultural products provided under the Free Trade Agreement. It was decided to start negotiations on trade in services and apply tools to promote business and trade. In addition, cooperation was agreed in the field of standardization, accreditation and conformity assessment, in the field of stimulating investment in industry and the development of scientific and technical innovations. Within the framework of the commission meeting, Sergiu Gaibu and Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Muș signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the development of free economic zones.
